Adi Chaham week 8: Sunrise vs Sunset: The Ultimate Debate

As I laid in my bed, staring out the window hoping to find inspiration, I wondered “what should I be writing about for my next blog post”. And Boom! As I saw the sky turning colors, getting pink with yellow, I thought of how beautiful nature was and how I had the perfect blog post idea.

For the longest time I didn’t understand the hype with sunsets or sunrises. I would see people’s snap stories of them at sunset and I remember getting annoyed saying “if I see one more sunset, I’m gonna block them”. My sister also used to wake up early to see the sunrise and I never understood why. Until I started to see the beauty in nature.

I’m not a nature type of gal. Never have been and don’t believe I ever will.  I don’t like sand, dirt, I'm not a fan of hiking (although my parents love it so I got used to it) and I especially don't like camping. I’m more of an inside hotel and go outside on a walk if it's a nice day type of girl.

I’m gonna be honest with you, I don’t exactly remember when I started to enjoy and see the true beauty of nature but I think it was sometime before Corona when we went to Vancouver and the Rocky Mountains. I remember being obsessed with the fact that you could see the clouds and they were so close to you that it felt like we were in the clouds.

Back to the main idea of the blog post. Once I started seeing nature for the beauty that it really was, I started wanting to go to the sunset and sunrise but after going to both many times, I have ultimately decided that overall, I like the sunrise better. Yes, you have to wake up earlier but, it’s at the beach and in my opinion, is most of the time prettier. Then, after watching it, I have an entire day because I woke up so early. However, the sunset is ultimately more convenient: It’s at a more reasonable time, and like a 10 minute drive from my house, by the lake and is still very pretty.

At the end of the day though, it all depends on the day you go and see the sunset/sunrise.

Which do you guys like better? Or do you not really care enough?

Comments

  1. I love star gazing the most. If it is between sunrise and sunset, I think I would have to go with sunrise. I love the sunrise because of how beautiful all of the colors are in the sky and how calm the world is. I love the sunset too, but less because of the sunset itself, and more because it means that the stars would be out soon after.

  2. I was thinking of the Fiddler on the Roof song "Sunrise Sunset" as I opened your post. I usually don’t go out in nature because I get allergies in forests, and I never manage to have time to go to the beach as much as I’d like, but I agree with you that sunrises are better. Sunrises are like new beginnings and I feel they’re more spiritual. Every morning, we thank G-d for waking us up, and the sun is what wakes us up in the morning. There is so much beauty that goes unnoticed.

  3. I honestly love both equally. Both of them are just so incredible to look at, and I feel so lucky to live in Florida where seeing beautiful sunrises and sunsets are the norm.
