Michael Hakim Week 10 - A Letter to my Future Self

All throughout 11th and 12th grade, I have had the pleasure of writing blog posts for Mrs. Ho’s class. I have really enjoyed writing blogs, as I am able to come back to them and remember different times of my life. For my last ever blog post for this class (probably), I thought it would be an interesting idea to write a letter to myself a year from now. Here it is:

Dear Future Michael,

Wow. You are currently 19 years old and in college, which is really hard to fathom. I hope you are doing well. I am currently writing this in AP Stats after just finishing all of my work and being given time. Right now I am just trying to get through the end of my senior year. There are so many uncertainties right now and my head is always spinning with thoughts about the future. I really hope that you’ve got it all figured out right now. I also hope that you are happy in college. These days it feels like all I can do is worry about college and the future.

I hope you are still doing the things you love, and not letting the stresses of school impact you too much. Oh, also, you better still be lifting weights. If you are not still working out, what are you doing? Go get back in the gym! No excuses. I hope your social life is good and you are meeting good people that make you happy. If you are not, then go out and put yourself out there.

I hope you are still close with your friends from high school. I also hope you are calling Ima and Aba every single day to keep in touch. Writing this right now, it is so scary to think that I won’t be living at home anymore.

I know this was very brief, but I wanted to keep it short and sweet. I really hope that you are doing okay, and I hope that these years are the best of your life so far.

Sincerely,

Michael from 2022

  1. Wow Michael, you really got personal on this one. On a lighter note, I relate to the uncertainties you're feeling. My first college decision comes out in less than a month, and then a tirade of college auditions might follow. I wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors!

  2. I really love what you wrote about in this blog. It is so interesting and almost weird to me when I reflect and notice how much I have changed in terms of personality, goals, priorities, and so much more. I hope that we are able to welcome our futures, challenges and all, and be able to learn and grow from them.
