Maya Garaway Week 7: Controversial Opinion: School isn't that Stressful
Yes. I said it. I stand by it.
Don't get me wrong, I completely understand why so many people are stressed whether it's from deadlines, college applications, tests, etc. I hear so many people complaining about this assignment or that class and how everything is so anxiety-inducing.
Truthfully, there are times when I wish I could still be stressed from school. Throughout my high school experience, there have been events that made me realize that school is such a minuscule thing to be worried about. School is just another thing on our to-do lists, so just get it done. We all have it, we all work with it, and we all get through it. As long as you put in your effort, it will pay off, so there's no need to add that extra tension to it. Also, I know that everyone in this class is smart enough to make it through the rest of high school with good grades. These are supposed to be the simple times of our lives. We are supposed to be able to look back at our high school years and think positively about it, not only think of the negative emotions. Not even just with high school, with anything. It's always better to find joy in any situation. I tend to be a positive person and I try to carry that with me into any situation. I'm grateful for the easy days we have right now. I'm thankful for the education that I am receiving, the free time I have, the ability to explore as many topics as I can, the lack of adult responsibilities, and so much more. Take advantage of the time you have right now in high school while you can. There are so many opportunities that we have offered to us right now that we can take advantage of as long as we think of them. I'm even going skydiving in two weeks just because it's such an interesting experience and because I can!
There's only less than a year left. Make the most of the time left instead of worrying about that test.
What's a positive experience that you have had recently?
I have to agree with you. As much as I complain about school-related issues, it isn't really as much of a problem as I think. Often, I could have one or two days a month where I have a lot of work, which I then generalize and exaggerate my difficulties. I try to take notice of the non-school related activities I do for my own benefit, like watching TV, so I can be grateful of the free time that I do get.
