Dina Bengelsdorf Week 8 - My Favorite Foods This Week
My Favorite Foods of the Week
Instead of writing about stressful or serious topics, I decided to go with something a little more light hearted for this week’s blog. Lately I have been enjoying some random assortment of foods that I’d be happy to eat at any and all times of the day. Here they are, and I’ll explain why:
Acai bowls
A treat since middle school, acai bowls have always been special to me. I love Playa Bowls - I always have - and just recently I learned that one would be coming to West Boca within the next few months. The mix of granola, honey, and fresh strawberries and blueberries always put me in a great mood. They taste like summer, in my opinion. The only downside is that they have a significantly high quantity of sugar, but I don’t eat them on a daily basis. Either way, this is one of my favorite treats of all time. I usually prefer it over ice cream, which says a lot.
Crunch bars
I used to love Crunch bars, until one day I just stopped seeing them. I assumed they were discontinued, or maybe they became less popular in stores. It wasn’t until volleyball season that I approached the vending machine and saw a Crunch bar! Something about the crispiness and crunchy texture is something that makes this candy bar something that I will always look forward to. It is my go to candy after a long day of school.
Tropical fruit bowls
Upon looking over this list, I realize that I am a summer girl at heart. Summer brings me so much joy; the beach, the sun, tropical fruit, and so on. I have recently grown to enjoy strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, but also mangoes and kiwi, among other fruits. Thinking of these fruits on a platter, maybe with watermelon slices and an ice cold water on the side, reminds me of a time with no homework, no school, and no stress.
There are probably more foods that I am not thinking of, but these three foods (or assortment of foods) sounds so enjoyable as I write this. What are your favorite foods right now? Do they change as often as mine?
My favorite foods right now are feta cheese, hot sauce, and honey (not specifically in that combination). I love trying to come up with new flavor combinations when I cook, and this process much easier when you consider the way condiments and garnishes like cheese can enhance the flavor of a dish. I've recently been putting feta and honey on a lot of my meal. I love the complex salty, creamy taste of the tart feta, paired with the sweet tangy floral flavor of the honey. These combinations also work with so many dishes, which I love.
