Ben Heller Week 10- Our Last Blog
With this possibly being our last blog, I wanted to focus on what I think is the significance of the blog. For those of us who were in Ms Ho’s AP Lang class, this semester’s blog assignment was not our first rodeo. I remember how excited I was by the prospect of writing about whatever came to mind. I had free creative reign over my own words, something that we as students have so seldom been granted. At this point though, we’ve all faced that hurdle- the notorious writer’s block. We’ve been writing for so long that it has become hard to think of fresh material. In this spirit, I’ve decided to write about the blogs themselves, a sort of blogception.
We belong to such a small school, that everyone knows everyone. We’ve all learned and worked together for years now, and we like to think we’re all connected to one another. I think that the purpose of the blogs, however, has been to connect us not by our shared ideas, but by our disparate ones. Having a carte blanche to write about almost anything has allowed us to explore a plethora of topics that interest us, voice our opinions and global affairs and politics, or vent about our lives. The fact that we have been required to go the extra step of reading and commenting on others’ blogs has ensured that all of us have read at least one of every other classmates’ posts. This has allowed us to discover shared interests, debate topics we disagree on, and come together as a class to improve each others’ critical thinking skills.
This serves to increase our understanding of the world around us, and gives us the opportunity to debate, learn, and explore in a safe environment. Despite my complaints about having to write a blog each week, about having to come up with different topics, I think I’ve gained a lot from this process. For that, it’s bittersweet that this may very well be my last blog. I’d like to leave you with one last message, a lesson- Savor every moment, and suck out all the juice you possibly can from the fruit of life- Bye bye blog.
If this is our last song then I’m so sad ☹️ I can’t believe it. Although every week the day comes where I have to write a new blog and respond to other blogs, and I somewhat dread it, I realize the importance of the assignment and I will somewhat miss it! THANK YOU Mrs. Ho for the opportunity to connect more through these blogs!
ReplyDeleteI'm honestly kind of sad to see it go. Although I may have dreaded writing blogs whenever a new week arrived, it was actually kind of nice to write about random things that I am passionate about. I also loved reading my classmate's blogs because I enjoyed reading about their passions.
