Leah Nagle - Week 2 - My Summer Travels

In summer, I traveled with my family and it was the most amazing experience ever! It was my first time leaving the United States since I moved here, so kind of a big deal! We went to Israel, South Africa, and England. 

As I just mentioned, the first place I traveled to was Israel. All my extended family from all over the world flew into Israel to celebrate my cousin’s bar mitzvah. Most of the family I was with in Israel were family members who I hadn’t seen in three years. Also, it was my first time ever visiting Israel, so it was truly just the most amazing experience ever! I had so much fun spending time with all my cousins and family as well as being able to experience how much fun Israel is in summer, it was just buzzing! And there were so many awesome things to see and do!


After Israel, my family and I flew to South Africa. I enjoyed seeing all my old friends again and spending time in the city I grew up in (yes, believe it or not, Johannesburg is actually a city, not a safari). 


Finally, the last place I traveled to was London. Only my mother and I went to London while the rest of my family chose to stay in South Africa for a bit longer. In London, I went to another cousin’s bar mitzvah on the other side of the family and again, was able to see family that I hadn’t seen in years. Of course, I wasn’t just celebrating a bar mitzvah in London, I also went to many of the tourist attractions that London is known for. 


Even though it was extremely exhausting, I had the best four weeks ever traveling around the world! I miss the family and friends that I saw terribly, and of course, I miss the thrill of traveling.

Adi Chaham week 10: Naps

       I dislike naps. I find that most people enjoy taking naps but there are very few that don’t, and I am one of those people.  I can’t explain it, but naps just ruin my entire day and I find sleeping at night to be much more beneficial than falling asleep after school.  Let me try to explain using the most simple scenario. You just had a long day at school so you come home. Instead of doing your homework or doing whatever you usually do after school, you fall asleep. An hour to two passes and it's now 6pm. Now, this is the part that bothers me the most. Maybe it just happens to me but you wake up all confused as to what time it is and bam, the rest of your day gets messed up. Ben Nikpour- Week 2: The Infamous Common App Essay

     The common app essay is stressful, to say the least. This 650-word essay has a huge impact on our college admissions; an excellent essay can be the one thing that gets you into your dream school, while a bad essay will do the opposite. Knowing this, I spent a lot of time strategically preparing and thinking about what I was going to write about. I started planning out my essay towards the end of last school year and already had a solid start on it before the summer. At first, I had no clue what I was going to write. I had no idea where to start, and I felt that I had nothing interesting to talk about.
