Liam Meldung - Week 2 - We Thought Last Year Was Stressful!

It’s been two and a half weeks since school started again. Our senior year! CRAZY. It’s our last year of Donna Klein, our last year of everyone being the same in our grades and no new people per se, it’s the last year of high school. I’m freaking out.

I feel like everyone thinks that senior year tends to be easier than junior year, but I completely disagree. I don’t remember feeling this stressed this early in the year last year. I have probably panicked six or seven times since school started. Whether it was about school work, college work, or just my life in general, I have been stressed.

It feels like we are in such a time crunch for everything this year. There is college work being thrown at us left and right, and for someone like myself who wants to apply for film, I have to make a creative portfolio, and there are so many specific things each university or college wants for them. FSU wants a few page story that you can come up with based on three prompts they give you, Chapman wants you to create a no longer than two minute film based on their prompt, and so many others want such specific things. Also some schools have just the creative portfolio and others have that and a personal statement and ten other things to apply. I’m so nervous. The deadlines are so close and I’m so nervous to see the results of all my hard work throughout my high school career.

School also has been super stressful so far. I had three tests/quizzes/essays last week. Just so everyone knows, I counted last week as the first real week of school so I was super surprised at how much there was. We also have homework coming from every direction and grades aren’t doing so well this year so I start to panic, but it’s fine, I’ll be fine, we’ll be fine!

Even though this year is stressful there is still so much to look forward to. All our memories with friends, getting into college or university, the shabbaton, the college trip, prom, sports events, the play, and so much more. So instead of thinking about everything I blabbed about above, I’m choosing to think about all these fun experiences we will get to have throughout the rest of the year!
